Meet the Team

Profile

Stuart is proud of the work of PECT (iiE’s parent organisation) and its role in improving communities and businesses. He spent much of his earlier career working as a consultant for government agencies and private clients, using technology data to inform decision making and collaborative action. Since moving into the third sector, Stuart has helped to bring this knowledge to help optimise programmes and activities. Stuart has a seeming endless supply of puns and bad jokes as well as a love for spreadsheets!

Antony is the National Lead for iiE and leads the iiE team to support 100s of businesses across the UK.

He is also the Head of Sustainability for iiE’s parent environment charity, PECT. Antony worked for PECT from 2001-2005, during which time he led the Business & Environment team and developed the award winning Business Environment Management Scheme and The Materials Exchange.

Since then Antony has worked on a number of local, regional and national business support programmes focused on sustainability including; Envirowise; the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP); Resource Efficiency East and Grants4Growth. Antony returned to PECT in late 2016 to work on the Business Energy Efficiency programme.

Antony is a Full Member of ISEP, a Chartered Environmentalist and has an MBA in Environmental Management.

David Knight is the Technical Lead and a Principal Sustainability Consultant for Investors in the Environment (iiE) where he has worked with a wide range of organisations across various sectors to find successful ways to make vital operational changes to reduce their impact on the environment.

David’s main areas of expertise are in carbon and energy management and environmental management systems, but as an ISEP Practitioner, he has a broad depth of knowledge and understanding of all areas of environmental performance and is passionate about making sustainability accessible to all organisations.

As well as his main role with iiE, David is the lead practitioner for the Low Carbon Lincolnshire programme and is the senior trainer for iiE’s ISEP accredited training centre.

He has previously provided support to a range of organisations as part of funded programmes including the Business Energy Efficiency Programme; Eastern New Energy and the Green Business Impact Programme.

Profile

Camilla is a keen environmentalist with strong knowledge in the area of resource efficiency. She has previously worked for WasteWatch and London Remade, an early flagship for the circular economy, before setting up on her own to undertake freelance research, project management and communications work in the environmental sector.

She has also delivered energy efficiency, sustainable transport and waste reduction projects in her home town and has experience of delivering programmes in the Humanitarian Aid and Arts sectors. She has completed the Business Sustainability Management Course at the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership and, through iiE, is inspired by helping organisations take actions which consider the planet and people as well profits.

Claire has been working in the environmental sector for over 25 years, spending many years in Local Authority Waste Teams. Since 2021 she has been running her own business focusing on engaging businesses with sustainability; plus highlighting the link between climate change and mental health and wellbeing. She is a Certified Carbon Literacy trainer and has developed bespoke training for a number of UK and Global organisations, as well as leading behaviour change campaigns on energy efficiency.

In her free time Claire can usually be found dipping in the North Sea, hiking with friends and attempting to raise 2 children to become responsible citizens.

Hannah graduated with an MSci in Environmental Biology, specialising in how botanical diversity can enhance urban greenspaces for the benefit of both local communities and the environment. Before her role as a  Sustainability Advisor at iiE, Hannah worked with industry partners, environmental charities, and councils to deliver sustainable change to tackle pollution in rivers across Merseyside, Cheshire, and Greater Manchester.

She enjoys combining her passion for sustainability, and experience working with businesses on environmental projects, to create a more sustainable future.

Outside of work, Hannah can be found birdwatching, practicing yoga, and playing video games.

Dani joined iiE after working for our parent charity, PECT, on their Green Business Impact Programme – helping businesses generate 5-year Net Zero roadmaps.

She has a law degree and her primary research analysed UK commercial environmental regulation. Dani worked in software before PECT as an Implementation Associate, training SMEs on job management software, assisting with change management, and developing custom solutions.

Outside of work, Dani has a passion for the environment and sustainability taking steps to reduce her impact, as well as educating and encouraging others. She loves to read, go to comedy and music gigs, and hike.

Profile

Eirini is a Sustainability Advisor within the iiE team. She holds a BSc Biology from the University of Sheffield, MSc Marine Conservation from the University of Aberdeen where she focused her thesis on the effect of climate change in marine animal fertility. She has a strong interest in sustainability and wildlife conservation and her previous experience involves working in the sports industry.

In her spare time Eirini’s interests including hiking, baking and volunteering.

Lina is one of our Sustainability Advisors. She holds a degree in BASC Global Challenges Planetary Health, which sparked her passion for sustainable development. Lina is particularly interested in ethical property investment and development, aiming to integrate these principles in her career.

Outside of work, Lina enjoys travelling, trying new foods and spending time with animals.

Alex brings an infectious enthusiasm to her work, making her perfect for the job of telling people about the great work of iiE. She has an MSc in Conservation and Biodiversity and has worked with councils, businesses and communities to move towards greener choices.

She has strong experience in the environmental sector, marketing and delivering PECT’s charity aims, their Climate Education flagship programme and their vast array of projects.

Megan is our Marketing and Sales Coordinator at iiE, working closely with the team to help showcase and celebrate our members’ fantastic achievements

Previously working within the packaging industry, alongside globally recognised FMCG brands, she brings an interest and knowledge of how sustainability can shape decisions across the entire supply chain.

She enjoys thinking outside the box and is excited to help our members work towards their sustainability goals. Outside of work, Megan enjoys countryside walks with her four-legged friend, Mango, as well as spending time outside gardening (finding any excuse to visit a garden centre).

Profile

Jo is the engagement lead for the North East. She has worked in the environmental sector for over 20 years, with expertise in environmental consultancy and waste management. This experience enables her to empathise with organisational aspirations to deliver sustainability whilst running the day-to-day operations. She is committed to demonstrating that environmental performance can positively impact an organisation’s bottom line.

Ellen has numerous years of experience within customer service, and has worked for local, national and international not-for-profit organisations. She has BA in Sociology and an MA in Peace & Conflict Studies and is passionate about amplifying local voices when it comes to making change. She has worked on local projects such as Food Newcastle, Newcastle’s Sustainable Food Partnership, and with many of the organisations that make up Newcastle’s VCSE sector.

 Annie’s sustainability journey is incredibly varied from leading impactful ecological projects in Africa and winning awards for climate change solutions at MIT to consulting for the World Bank and contributing to the IUCN’s Red List at the Institute of Zoology. Annie’s a certified Carbon Literacy Trainer and an emissions reporting platform partner, helping others understand and reduce their carbon footprints. She also hosts sustainability meet ups through People, Planet, Pint, creating a space for like minded individuals to share ideas and take action together. In addition, Annie is a member of the Missing Lynx reintroduction community group and an accredited coach, guiding individuals and groups to make meaningful, sustainable changes in their lives.

James is a sustainability partnerships and green skills specialist with over a decade of experience helping organisations build environmental capability at scale.

He spent 11 years at IEMA, including six years growing the corporate partnerships programme from the ground up to more than 400 organisations, spanning every UK Government department, NHS bodies, and major employers across infrastructure, facilities management, and professional services, collectively representing over seven million employees.

Since then, James has focused specifically on the green skills challenge, working alongside organisations that are actively building solutions to close it. That includes Stickerbook, a gamified sustainability microlearning platform; LDN Apprenticeships, supporting workforce-wide sustainability capability through funded learning; and Investors in the Environment, helping members move beyond accreditation into genuine organisational change.

He founded The Skills Gap to bring this work together, built on one core belief: sustainability capability needs to be everyone’s business, not just the sustainability team’s.

James has three children, a daily reminder that meeting the needs of the present while protecting the future isn’t a policy position, it’s personal.

Eleanor works as the Senior Sustainability Education Officer at sustainability education charity, Change Agents UK. In her role, she develops and delivers training across sustainability awareness and skills, including their flagship Sustainability Leadership Skills Programme. She has created and delivered bespoke training for senior management teams, Human Resources staff, students, jobseekers, and individuals from across organisations who want to become more able and empowered to be part of the green transition.

Her professional background is as an operational sustainability officer in the Higher Education sector. In this role, she worked to measure and embed sustainability across the organisation, including procurement, the curriculum, research practices and business travel.

With a BSc Environmental Science, Eleanor is a certified Carbon Literacy Trainer, Climate Fresk Facilitator, Biodiversity Collage Facilitator, and Internal Environmental Auditor. Her experience also includes peer counselling, systems thinking and emotional support work to ensure that learners have the knowledge, but also the skills, values, and community to create change.

Profile

Gemma is a Project Manager at iiE parent charity PECT and has been working in the environmental field since 2005. She has worked with a variety of public, non-profit and private sector organisations, including Tate, the Cambridge Conservation Initiative and Essex County Council, to shape and implement their environmental strategies.

Gemma has a master’s degree in environmental policy and enjoys collaborating with teams and individuals to find the best solutions for people and planet.

A lifelong foodie, she loves growing, cooking and most of all, eating! In her spare time she enjoys playing netball with her local team and exploring the great outdoors.

Profile

Jan is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist, a Chartered Member of the CIPD and a Practitioner Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. She has a background in building design – her first career was in architecture, and has many years experience in learning and development with a focus on management, and more recently project management and coaching. As a Sustainability Consultant she thrives on enabling organisations to reduce their carbon footprint and engaging their staff to achieve this. She has lived in a passivhaus and has recently refurbished a Victorian terraced house with an air source heat pump, internal wall insulation, double glazing and solar photovoltaic panels. She runs carbon footprinting workshops, as well as Carbon Conversations and Carbon Literacy for organisations.

Brigette is a Sustainable Finance and ESG Expert with over 10 years of experience working across investment banking and finance, and environmental consultancy. With a background in Environmental Science, she has an in-depth understanding of the complexities and interconnectivity of the impacts of organisations on the natural environment. Further, she specialises in assisting organisations to manage, measure and report their environmental and social risks and impacts, and has been appointed as a Green Finance expert to the UK PACT programme funded by the UK Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). She is the Director of ANZ and the Americas for Green Arch Consulting, Co-founder of Frontierra and is a Certified Advisory Board Chair.

Danielle is based in Leeds and runs Optimo Business Limited, helping change-making organisations to optimise their operations. With a passion for all things planet and people, she loves exploring the ways that she can have a positive impact on the world we live in, both personally and professionally.

Danielle has over 15 years in operations and business change, with experience across private, public and third sectors. She enjoys finding ways that people, processes, technology and information can work in harmony in organisations and across whole systems, to create positive change. She is also Chair of Trustees for Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity and volunteers for Victim Support in her spare time.

Danielle loves music, food and the outdoors and has been enjoying open water swimming over the last couple of years, alongside her frequent hikes in the Yorkshire countryside.

James leads the innovation, corporate relations, communications and marketing functions at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, where is part of the senior leadership team.

James has worked on sustainability issues in private, public and NGO sectors. He previously set up a Business Engagement and Innovation team at Friends of the Earth to develop new ideas, business partnerships, networks and alliances. In this role he worked across environmental campaigns and programmes on climate and energy, food, resource use, nature and biodiversity. In 2011 he worked for 6 months setting up sustainable agriculture projects in high altitude communities in the Peruvian Andes.

He held a variety of senior commercial roles at Vodafone UK developing strategic partnerships and new routes to market and founded a digital media start up in 2008.

James holds a BSc (Rural Estate Management) and a Master’s in Leadership for Sustainable Development. He is a Board Trustee of two sustainability-focussed NGOs, PECT and TPI – The Partnering Initiative, where he brings sustainable business, commercial, and leadership experience.

Virginia is the founder and director of Green Gorilla Consultants Ltd (www.thegreengorilla.co.uk), a training and coaching company focusing exclusively on empowering sustainability professionals to become the most confident and assertive version of themselves.

Virginia is a qualified architect, project manager, BREEAM AP, ISO14001 Lead Auditor and Accredited Practitioner Coach, with a lifelong passion for sustainability. She is the author of SustainABLE: How to Find Success as a Sustainability Professional in a Rapidly Changing World, a practical guide for those that have a passion for sustainability but cannot make an impact.

Virginia is also a Lecturer in Sustainability and Environmental Management at Coventry University.
