Investors in the Environment offers a range of training courses designed to help organisations upskill or reskill their staff with essential sustainability qualifications. We also offer a selection of accredited IEMA-certified training, including Pathways to Net-Zero, Environmental Sustainability Skills for the Workforce, and the comprehensive Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
Our bespoke iiE Green Champion Course is designed for green champions to gain the practical skills to make sustainable change in their organisation. Whilst the content lends itself to our accreditation scheme, the tools can be applied to both members and non-members alike.

iiE Green Champion Course
This online course is for to anyone looking to learn more about sustainability and how to help their organisation go green. Learners need no prior sustainability knowledge and free templates & resources are embedded within the modules. iiE members will also benefit from free places on the course and how to use course content towards their iiE accreditation. The course content is broad and applicable to iiE members and non members alike, any job role and is relevant across all sectors and sized organisations.
Course Overview
This short online course is delivered through our e-Learning platform; learners can work through modules at their own pace and take practical steps to create change. It will give you the foundational knowledge to improve your organisation’s environmental performance, covering topical areas such as:
- Carrying out basic environmental audits
- Using data to track performance & influence decision making
- Developing action plans and setting targets
- Practical tools to cut carbon and waste
- How to engage staff/ co-workers and communicate your commitment to sustainability
The course ends with a short multiple-choice answer exam and upon completion, learners will receive an iiE Green Champion certification.

Pathways to Net Zero
The IEMA Pathways to Net Zero course gives clear, consistent guidance on best practice in response to the climate crisis. The course aims to provide supervisors and leaders with a strategic and operational overview of environmental sustainability as it affects your specific industry and work area.
Course Overview
This 2-day course is ideally suited for supervisors and managers across all sectors and has no formal entry requirements; however, it is strongly preferred that the candidate is in a practising role that will allow them to deeply understand the areas explored over the duration of the course. Learners will get to grips with what makes a robust net zero claim, greenhouse gas accounting, frameworks, and decarbonisation planning.

Environmental Sustainability Skills for the Workforce
The Environmental Sustainability Skills for the Workforce course is perfect for those working in any job role across all sectors, to ensure that environmental sustainability is embedded into all job roles of a company.
Course Overview
The course covers the main environmental risks and opportunities facing organisations; the importance of resource efficiency; the impacts of pollution, prevention, control and legislation; the impact of transport; and knowing how employees can support environmental sustainability.
This 1-day course is ideally suited for those working in any job role across all sectors and has no formal entry requirements. It is benchmarked against the Level 2 RQF descriptors and supports iiE Green Champions and wider staff with attaining core environmental awareness.

Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management
This course has been developed to provide learners with a foundation of environmental and sustainability knowledge to build upon. Delivered over 5 days, our default programme is 1 day per week for 5 weeks. Please note: on request and depending on uptake, participants can can complete the course during a block of 5 days together.
Course Overview
This course will give you a foundation of environmental and sustainability knowledge to build on. Covering a wide range of environmental, sustainability and governance principles, this course will give learners an understanding of the breadth of the sustainability agenda, and the management tools and skills that they will need when working within this area.
This course is for people looking to add verified sustainability credentials to their skillset and is suitable for professionals already working in sustainability or people who are looking to get a foundational understanding of sustainability issues and environmental management within organisations. The drive towards sustainability and desire for Green Skills has opened up new professional avenues across all sectors and IEMA’s Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management course is the perfect way to show that you have the knowledge and skills to begin your career in sustainability. This course leads directly to IEMA Associate Membership and includes exam and individual IEMA membership fees.

To ensure the best learning experience, we want to ensure all IEMA courses have a good level of participants attending. We aim to have at least 6 delegates on each course and encourage all delegates to actively engage with the course and share experiences as peer learning is a valuable part of the course experience.
Please note:
If participant levels are too low, we will delay the start of the event to allow more time. As a last resort, we may cancel the course and reschedule for the next available date. You will be notified three weeks prior to the course start to discuss options. We apologise for any inconvenience should this occur.
iiE can deliver IEMA courses in-house both virtually and in-person, and if you would like to find out more, please email training@iie.uk.com. Please note that in-person training can only be provided at UK-based sites.

Each day usually begins at 9am and finishes around 4pm (UK time). However, course tutors will be available to support you between 9am-5pm (UK time).
All IEMA courses are delivered live by course tutors on Microsoft Teams. Each course includes a mixture of course instruction, peer learning through exercises, and offline exercises around the course’s key learning outcomes. All course materials are sent in advance of the course starting date.
Course materials will be issued two weeks prior to the start date of the event, subject to receipt of payment. Please ensure your payment has been made before this date to avoid any delays in receiving materials.
All materials will be issued digitally. However, hard copies of the materials can be requested. Please notify us at the time of booking so we can arrange for a copy to be issued via the post.
All courses have an examination at the end. For the IEMA courses, your exam link will be sent shortly before the start of your exam window. Details of your exam window will be confirmed when you are sent your course materials.
We close all IEMA courses bookings three weeks before the course start date. This allows us time to finalise the course and ensure all required information and payments have been received.
