Crowshall Veterinary Services

Attleborough

Crowshall Veterinary Services was founded in 1995 with the ambition of providing evidence-based, practical and compassionate veterinary care to the commercial poultry and gamebird sectors. Since then the practice has grown organically, with a team of 12 veterinarians and over 25 laboratory, administration and technical staff. Working as a close-knit team, we provide expert veterinary consultancy supported by data acquired through pathology, site visits, microbiology, Salmonella sample processing, Campylobacter testing, and serology, performed by a progressive team who are always on the lookout for new methods to advance the quality of our services. Throughout this development, Crowshall Veterinary Services has always remained true to its principles, with a consistent focus on championing the production of healthy and sustainable food while promoting outstanding animal health and welfare. We have never shied away from tackling challenges encountered by the veterinary and agricultural sectors, whether through our responsible use of antibiotics or our progressive attitude to mental health support for both staff and clients alike.

Since registering with iiE in 2019, we have embraced the challenge of reducing our environmental impact, with engagement from all staff members driving significant improvements across a wide range of resource usages.

Crowshall became not only the first commercial poultry practice, but also the first 100% dedicated farm animal practice, to receive iiE Green accreditation in 2020, a status we have maintained every year since through continued developments and progress.
Key highlights of the last 4 years include:
– Installation of EV chargers for client and staff usage
– Decarbonisation of practice fleet, with 3 hybrid cars and 1 fully electric car now in use by the veterinary team
– Large reductions in heating oil usage, with oil expected to be fully phased out of use by the practice by 2030
– Continual improvements in reductions of laboratory single-use plastic waste, and constant review of alternative methods
– Effective waste separation and transport strategies to maximise recycling/minimise incineration or landfill and reduce the carbon footprint involved with removal of waste as much as possible using local and regional suppliers
