GatesheadGateshead Council has successfully been reducing its carbon emissions since the adoption of its first climate strategy in 2010. The council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and set an ambitious target to be net zero by 2030. Gateshead has implemented some exemplary energy and heat initiatives in the borough. To help achieve its net zero target and to provide accountability, the council decided to commission an independent audit of its operations. The Council chose iiE which provided an audit of not only carbon emissions, but wider environmental considerations, which form part of the holistic sustainability and wellbeing agenda.
