Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provide a range of health and care services to support more than 500,000 people living in Northumberland and North Tyneside.
We recognise that the impacts of the climate crisis affect everyone – especially the health of the most vulnerable in our communities. This is why we are adapting, innovating, and changing the ways we work to protect our planet, and our people to ensure we meet Net Zero on or before 2040.
The Sustainability Team, and wider Net Zero Northumbria group launched the Net Zero Northumbria (NZN) Action Plan 2024-26 in January 2024. Substantial achievements have already been made with the Action Plan. We have widened engagement with all staff through education and creation of staff groups, made significant progress with travel surveys and innovations to reduce single occupancy car journeys, advanced our waste management processes and progressed with some of our larger decarbonisation works on our buildings.
